I hope this note finds you and your families doing well during this pandemic. As of today, there is still a great deal of uncertainty regarding the “stay at home” requirements and the impact on our firm. Given this situation along with the court closures and client directives (asking us to hold off on most collections), we have made the decision to Furlough approximately 10% of our staff. Those people have already been contacted directly by HR representatives. If you are placed on Furlough, BG intends to pay your medical benefits that you had in place at the time of Furlough. This will be in place until May 15th and re-evaluated at that time.
That being said, you will be free to seek unemployment benefits immediately. As I have discussed many times, it is important for us to protect as many jobs as possible. There will still be many of you who do not have remote access and will remain employed. You will be paid as normal and hopefully we will have you working soon. If you have PTO available it will be utilized. All others with remote access will remain employed and will be paid as normal. This will be the plan through April 30, 2020.
